Liverpool’s reported interest in Rayan Cherki is gathering some heat after the latest report from France.
The Reds emerged as one of the interested parties in signing the 21-year-old, who only signed a new deal last summer.
Cherki’s availability comes after Lyon’s recent financial trouble.
The Ligue 1 side is in a very delicate situation and risks suffering administrative relegation.
With debts surpassing €500 million, the French financial watchdog, DNCG, has warned Lyon of a looming relegation to Ligue 2.
This will be enacted if their financial situation is not resolved soon.
As a result, some of their key players could be sold to raise the money needed to offset the debt.
Cherki, one of Lyon’s brightest stars, was linked to Liverpool, and now French news outlet RMC has confined the news.
“Author of solid performances since the end of September and his extension at OL, Rayan Cherki arouses covetousness?
Particularly on the side of Liverpool,” the news outlet said.
